From my experience there are indeed shadows and shadow people.
Voices could just be people without bodies; earth-bound is the term.

There's no real benefit I can say to seeing and hearing these things.

So... I wouldn't shove medications down his throat to "fix" his perception.

WOW this must be an incredibly tough time for you! You will have a good lot of people saying he is spiritually receptive and a good deal of people saying he has schizophrenia. You know it could be either. It is very hard to say.

When my youngest son was four he used to sit on the top bunk in his room chatting to his brother.... which may seem no big deal except that his brother died 23 months before my younger son was born!! So do I believe that children are spiritually receptive... Yes! Absolutely this is only one such incidence among my children....

Do I believe that it could be schizophrenia... Yes I do! hearing voices and seeing things are symptoms of schizophrenia....

How the heck can you tell the difference??

I dont know.. I do know that I was told by a child psychologist that it is not usual to diagnose schizophrenia in children under 12.

I would consider the question of whether the voices and shadows have increased in intensity as he has gotten older and entered school or if they are less intensive... It is usual that as children enter school and get a little older their spiritual receptiveness will lessen..... it wont necessarily go away...

I am spiritually receptive and I am creative so smetimes when I am working on a story etc I hear the characters conversing in my head.... it is part of the creatve process for me... but ya know I'd never tell a psychiatrist that...

Mental illness is a serious thing and if that is what this is early treatment garners better results..... You are in a tough spot here... Best of luck with it all

Your son is not crazy. The things that are bothering your son are demons. You may think that I am crazy, but I'm not. When I was a little girl I would see some things you could not imagine and hear things. Your son has a sense that most people do not have and are just not aware of. If you are in a church, you should talk to your pastor. If not then you need to find a pastor you can talk to about your son. He's really going through a lot.

Pray all will be well soon

He may be seeing things but are you monitoring what he watchs on TV? Watching some really scary movies at such a young age can really cause a child of 8 to possibly not know the diffrence or perhaps simply be scared to death!Ive seen alot of people that let their kids watch scary shows and think its fine but its not .They are too immature to be able to process that kind of stuff.Or demons could be messing with him and if thats the case you might ought to move.

If it is "in his head" a qualified Psychologist will be able to detect that. If he is hospitalized, chances are there are some existing problems.

it sounds like your son has childhood onset schizophrenia.... of course only a pyschiatrist can diagnose that and they are reluctant to diagnose that too quickly... it may take a while before your son gets a proper diagnosis....

go to http://schizophrenia.com/

for good information... there is a webboard for parents of children with schizophrenia... you might be able to get support and answers there....

He has a problem. He probably does see things and they are in his head.(how severe a problem this is is debatable at this point any family history of schizophrenia?)
