u believed that??? nobody human lived for 900 years. few enough can pass 100. in the past people lived even shorter lifespans due to lack of hygiene, food problems, disease and the lack of cures for them, superstitious beliefs that got them killed, etc.
back then, u'd be lucky to make it till 50, forget 100.
preacher: killing rays of the sun? ok u go live in a cave then and come back in 900 years to prove that.
flame weilder: and 2 perfect humans interbred to produce 6.5 billion diverse humans today did they? ur braindead.

Wow, big question. There are different views by Bible believing Christians about why people lived longer in Pre-Flood times (up to the times of Noah and his family). Suffice it to say that most believe the Biblical chronological accounts about the longetivity of those figures with the oldest recorded being Methuselah at 969 years old (Gen 5:27). In Genesis 6:3 God curtailed man's lifespan to 120 years (at most). The next instance of a number alloted to man's lifespan (Psalm 90:10a) basically gives us about 70 years (80 if we're strong). As to why people lived longer? We can only guess. One theory about the times before the flood is called the "canopy" theory. That is prior to the flood there was a layer of water surrounding the earth's atmosphere that protected the earth from some of the more harmful ultraviolet rays, essentially giving the earth a "greenhouse" effect. Then when the flood came the canopy rained upon the earth and the fountains of the deep released their water for a major change for the world. Moses had a "gift" from God that right up until the time of his death (120 yrs) he didn't lose his strength(Gen 34:7) I think that being obediant to God can't hurt, and if you happen to go sooner, you're ready for the next chapter!

Back then, humans were a lot closer to Adam and Eve than we are today. Since Adam and Eve were perfect for some time until they disobeyed God and became imperfect, their descendants were quite close to perfection (unlike us, some 6000 years later). Perfection included everlasting life, therefore the people from those times had long life spans. This idea also explains how, from only 2 people, the Earth became populated. Since Adam and Eve's children were very close to perfect, they could interbreed without any problems concerning their children.

No modern entertainment, just disease, labour and death. They lived short miserable dirty lives. They just seemed much longer because of all the suffering.
No matter how much some people want to glorify the 'Good Old Days' archaeology tells a much different story!
Some scholars think the names are actually refering to the names of the ruling dynasties.

After the destruction of the firmament in Noah's flood the age of man declined rapidly. The firmament encased the Earth and had allot to do with the magnetic fields.

Yes. Before the flood. There were relatively few humans on the earth, very little disease and the atmosphere is thick, which protected humankind from the killing rays of the sun.

Yes they did. you have to remember that people were closer to perfection then people now, they were closer to adam and eve then we are. Humans were not made to die. another factor is the way ppl live now. no one exercieses like they are suppose to. we dont eat like they used to. they ate what was grown in their backyards, it was fresh and pesticide free which is healthier. its alot of things that take into place which makes them live longer.
