All piercings hurt, that's just the way it goes.

But, if it really hurt THAT BAD, do you think anyone would ever get it done??

I have my belly button pierced 4 times, and I've had this done for about 5 years now.

I love all of them, and they all healed very nicely, and I never had a single problem with any of them.

When you get your belly button pierced, they will clamp your skin, with a pair of forceps that kind of resembles a pair of scissors.

This will be pinching the flap of skin that is going to be pierced, and the pinching hurts more than the needle being pushed through!

Just hold your breath, relax, and it will be over in a matter of seconds!!

Good luck! :)

This sounds silly, but it feels like getting your belly button pierced. It feels like a needle penetrating skin. Simple as that.

What makes a difference is really calm deep breathing. I like to exhale everything I can, then take a really big breath and fill up my lungs, then slowly exhale. I do this routine usually ten minutes before I get a piercing so that I can get very relaxed.

If your palms are sweaty or if you need someone there to hold your hand and keep you calm, you're probably not ready for a piercing.

Its a piercing, you will feel something. Depending on your tolerance for pain and the skill of the piercer, the piercing may or may not be painful. Everyone who comments here speaks for themselves. I have 6 navel piercings, I did 4 of those myself after becoming a professional piercer, none of the hurt to the point where I wouldn't do it again if I had to

So, you will feel something, the area will be sore for the next 1-2 weeks. If you keep it clean and avoid infections you won't experience any horrible pain at all.

Any piercing is gonna have a sting but at least by your navel the skin is soft. I have had it done and also my ears and cartilage of my ears. My ears have hurt the most because the cartilage of your ears are hardened......It will be okay and it doesnt hurt bad....But like any piercing your after maintence is what will hurt more. The swelling of the skin and when you clean it, you will have to rotate the belly button ring....But their adorable. you'll be okay. Good luck! :)

Depends on the individual. Any time your skin is pierced there will be some amount of discomfort. Take your fingernails and pinch the upperside of your navel as hard as you can, count to 3, and let go. That's probably worse than a navel piercing feels so if you can handle that...no problem

JUST be sure to follow your after-care instructions very well. The navel is one of the slowest to heal areas of the body so you'll want to keep it clean, not wear tight clothing over it for a while, etc.

I've had mine for years...enjoy!

It didn't hurt me. to me it felt like someone walked by and pinched my navel. It goes by very quick. The only time it hurt me was the first time I cleaned and rotated it, but thats just because I wasn't used to the piercing, also will hurt if u accidentally snag or bump it somewhere, but it depends on your pain tolerance, what doesn't hurt me, could very well hurt you. but seriously the navel ring is the most popular female piercing (the nose is 2nd) if it hurt that bad and was so hard to take care of....I dont think it would be so popular.

Just like your ears pierced-quick, hot flash of pain then owie for a week or two-no big deal. Tough if you are a stomach sleeper though. Keep it clean though-infections hurt much worse! And don't take it out unless you are prepared to let it heal-they are a pain to get back in!

YES!!! A whole lot, but its over really really fast and it won't hurt that much afterwards, just make sure you wear lose or low rise pants for a while! But its totally worth it, they're the cutest things. I had mine pierced twice and it hurt way more the second time, but it still isn't THAT bad, its tolerable. Its not bad enough to make you cry, I'll put it that way. :-)

oh don't listen to them...its not even that bad. i got mine when i was 13 and have had it for 2 yrs now and the weirdest part is the huge clamp pulling your belly button out. you feel a strange prick and some pressure, but i didnt evn realize it was done and my mom was like "hey, he's done!"...my cartiledge hurt waayyyy worse. just breathe and take someone whose hand u can hold! u'll be fine! :-)
