I’ve been using X10 technology for years and prefer “smarthome” products.

Found the answer to your question in their help section.

“If you have purchased "dimmable" fluorescent bulbs, you can use any electronic dimmer to control them that connects to neutrals. A good example would be our 2384 (http://www.smarthome.com/2384w.html) or 2386 (http://www.smarthome.com/2386w.html) or even the full-featured 2380 (http://www.smarthome.com/2380w.html). As with most dimmable fluorescent bulbs, you will not be able to dim them completely. You can typically dim a dimmable fluorescent about half way before it goes off”

X10 itself and the products are not too undesirable particularly, only that their internet site is an demanding bag of suck. particular, by way of fact the previous due 90s high quality would have long gone down as production went to China, and particular, they're employing the comparable basic gadget and designs from 1975 while BSR owned them.
