This is practiced in some Muslim countries, but certainly not all, and it appears to be cultural more than religious. Please see link below:

Calling it circumcision is a misnomer. Unlike male circumcision which just removes the foreskin, the female variety removes the entire clitoris.
Also, the procedure is usually done on older girls, without anesthetic, and in unsanitary conditions. It is nothing short of mutilation.
Which sects of Islam practice this, or have practiced it, doesn't really matter....anyone who condones this type of mutilation is a barbarian and deserves no respect on the world stage.

It is better to call it female gential mutilation (FGM) as it has very little to do with the harmless male circumcision.
No it is not done by all Muslims, it is mainly done in certain regions of Africa. It is also not only done by Muslims in the affected areas but also by Christians and other religions (although the affected regions are predominantly Muslim). It is a tradition that is probably thousands of years old and has nothing to do with Islam, but many Muslims in the affected regions say it was Islamic.

I had a look at the link, yuck, it is site is made by fanatics/suicide bombers. If they say that we have bring the Western world to Islam by violence, then how can you believe whatever else they say? Have they forgotten that killings others is a sin in Islam? Ignore them.
The circumcision is performed (as far as I know) largely in Sudan and few parts of Egypt (by some of the poor uneducated ones). As regards to a certain sects, only the Sunni sect is in Egypt and Sudan. It is unheard of where Shiites are concerned.

It is defintly a cultural thing (I think they do it more in Africa. I haven't visited the site ur provided yet). IT is not in religion. DEFINTLY NOT IN RELIEGON
