Is there evidence besides what He has told us? Can we credit God for all things positive and blame others for all negatives?

OldDog: I don't really understand your response. Are you saying that He must be good because we worship Him?

Other than God telling us he's righteous we wouldn't know but as God is infinite and omnipotent what God says is righteous is automatically righteous whether or not we disagree. Without a higher power morality does not exist. Assuming God exists if he says murdering puppies and raping women is righteous then it is in fact righteous. People who say God is "evil" or "barbaric" are cleary confused as they have no basis to judge God in this manner if humans decide what is right and wrong in the case of no higher power existing then i can decide whatever i want is right to be right and so can everyone else therefore negating morality in its entirety. Without God morality does not exist with God morality is whatever God says it is.

I have to most agree with Pusherhombre: This is a simplified reasoning to knowing that God is righteous.

1. We (all human beings) know that righteousness exists in a greater or lesser degree. (If we had no concept of right vs. wrong we couldn't make laws, or say that laws are unjust etc.)

2. Because we know that a lesser form of righteousness exists (like I know that I'm not perfect, and nobody else is) then it must follow that a greater form exists.

3. In fact, we can imagine (reason) that something completely, and absolutely righteous exists.

4. Something lesser cannot great something greater, so we know that something more righteous than the most righteous thing we can imagine created us, and because the most righteous thing we can imagine is absolutely righteous, God must be more righteous than that (infinitely).

By definition - something that is absolute cannot become less than what it is so God cannot do any form of evil. It's a little bit simplified but I pray it helps!

PS

'I'm a killer' - Proves his ignorance by stating two completely false facts:

The Bible does not call animals 'beasts' - the Bible was written in two different languages before it was translated into English and only one, maybe two English translations that I know of translates either the Hebrew or Greek to 'beast', both of which we early English translations when it was common in the English language to use the word 'beast' in place of 'animal'.

Secondly: Animals may show acts of kindness, but I can attest as one who's degree encompasses ethology (study of animals in their natural habitat) but these acts of 'kindness' are always to the greater benefit of their species and thus cannot be considered acts of morality.

He's God!! We aren't! If He wasn't righteous, if He was not responsible for all the good things, if He held a shred of a negative aspect then He would be fallible. That is not worth worship.
There is nothing wrong about or with God. He is perfect, and I say again...if He wasn't perfect then He is not God. If He isn't God then He is not an entity I would worship.

The righteousness of God is self evident as well as displayed in scripture.
I agree that we can credit all things good and perfect as being from God, evil is a result of sin and the devil.

Jesus said in John 10:10 "The thief's purpose [devil] is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness."

Well, the information that God gives in the Bible is always beneficial for us. He never condones things that will harm us. His laws and orders are all for our well-being. As for blame, if you really feel the need to blame someone, blame Satan. He's the one who started the rebellion which brought about all the problems. Or blame Adam and Eve. They didn't have to listen to him.

All evidence is part of creation, so all evidence comes from God. To seek something separate from God is to seek that which does not exist.

The God of the bible is righteous if you think it is righteous to murder children!

Or to Murder people without giving them a law to go by first!

If it is righteous to murder then death row is full of very righteous people!

By the fact that we are not righteous and cannot physically be in his presence or see him with our own eyes man to man.

Because we are not righteous.
