I know her boyfriend. He doesn't treat her very well. But is it a male obligation to stay away?

Don't step aside, but don't get in the missle either. JUst let her know that you are very interested and if she should ever see the light that this guy isn't for her, to come and see you!

Step to the side but not too far away. Be there for her in a unselfish way. She needs to resolve her issues on her own and in her own time. If you push her most likely she will be right back with him in time. Be patient. Best wishes!

I was in the same situation a few years back. I tried to pursue her, and she couldnt let go of her man. We still messed around (me and her) but nothing came of it. So I would say if shes down to fool around with you then take it. But as far as getting her to be with you as a GF I would say give it up.

If she is happy and the guy is a nice dude that treats her well, then I think you shouldnt mess things up. But if he's a jerk that treats her badly, then you probably could.

Unfortunately, yes. Unless it's her own will that she stands up for herself and break off with him, you cannot be there for her or tell her how you feel. Good luck.
