The bible states it was his only son. Was it only son at that time..which in this case will be Ishmail who according to the bible he was the older (Ishmail was 13 when Isaac was born). Is God that racist to neglect Ishmail as his prophet's son because he simply was braught to the world by a maidservant and that's why he really ordered Abraham to sacrifice his "only son" Isaac.

It would make a lot of sens if God ordered Abraham to saccrifice " a son", " your son", "Your son Isaac"...In this case it was "only son" Ismhmail was still his son even if he moved to Tokyo. When it's said only son, i see it as IShmail before Isaac was born.

If Ishmail lost the right to be called by people as Abraham's son because of his mother. But still, God calls him son of abraham.

You see, the problem with the bible is that it is a corrupted book. It was written by men, things were taking off others were add up to just serve the interest of their authors. But I really believ that despite all that, GOD had preserved his truth in the bible. But most christians can't see it, because they don't know how to read. They see it black and they say it's white and they really try to convince you that is white. Just lies after lies after lies after lies. They said Jesus is a son of God at the time where God had sons by the tons in the bible. They said no jesus is different, he is the only begotten, and yet they attribute the lowest animal function to God which is sex. They said thet God, the son the the spirit and three different things, but they all are one same thing and that is God.....and I can go on for ever...to get to Ishmail who they really think that he is not from the blood line of Abraham, because his mother is a slave. You see Abraham and his whife Sarah wanted a son so bad, so bad that Sarah lost hope and allowed Abraham to have a son with their maidservant Hajer. Since God does only Godly things and not Monkey business, He God wanted to test his prophet's faith. He put Abraham to the task, he gave him a son Ishmail and Ordered him to sacrifice him...In some other way, he is telling him that is that all you want in life here I order you to destroy it, Now Abraham was facing th truthness of his face, he didn't think twice He responded to God's order...That's when God was pleases of him, and he saved his only child at that time ishmail, and ordered him to sacrifice a lamb instead and as a gift for passing the test, he gave him and Sarah a son named Isaac.

Isaac was Abraham's only son by his wife, Sarah. There is no racism involved. The story of Abraham goes deeply (in the Bible) in his love for Sara and their desire for a child. The child of this union just happened to be the line that ended up as the Jews, The Children of Israel, the people who wrote the Old Testament.

This is a cultural issue more than anything else. In those days men typically had more than one wife, as well as mistresses. I think that Isaac just survived the luck of the draw in having Sara as his mother, who was Abraham's great love.

The line that became Muslims, via Ishmail, were no less important and the results were equally important for the world.

Ulitmately, it is all about faith, and what EVERYONE forgets is the faith exhibited by Abraham and his belief in God. This is why he is revered by Jews, Muslims, and Christians.

Isaac

Genesis 22
Abraham’s Faith Tested
1 Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. “Abraham!” God called.
“Yes,” he replied. “Here I am.”

2 “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”

Because Isaac was the promised child to Abraham and Sarah, that is why God refers to him (Isaac) that way.

Ishmael did come before Isaac...and that was Sarah's doing. Ishmael was not the promised child. However, Abraham asked if he (Ishmael) too would be blessed and God said yes.

However, Gen. 21:12 But God told Abraham, “Do not be upset over the boy and your servant. Do whatever Sarah tells you, for Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.

It was Isaac. At the time that Abraham was going to sacrifice him, Isaac was 25 years old. Ishmael and his mother had been gone for a while by that time. You need to keep in mind that God blessed Ishmael as well as Isaac and made him a mighty nation, but it was through Isaac's line that the promised Messiah would come. The reason for the sacrifice was that God was demonstrating what he would do for mankind at a future time. God sacrificed his only begotten son. It was a test of Abraham's faith as well. Since both Abraham and Isaac were well aware that God had promised the Messiah to come through Isaac's line, they had to put faith in the fact that God could and would resurrect Isaac. Remember, God can't lie.

God called Isaac his only son to show that he was the one that God had promised Abraham. Ishmael would not have been at all had it not been for Sarah taking matters into her own hands. That is why he sent Ishmael and Haggar into the desert. God promised to watch over Ismael but Isaac was His promise to Abraham and consequently was looked on as the "only son" by God.

God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Ishmael was the son from Hagar, the servant girl of Sarah. Although Ishmael was blessed with a nation he was not the chosen son. Isaac was the chosen and promised son that God said that he would bless Abraham through. We would also be blessed through him. It was through Isaac that Jesus would be born.

It clearly says that Abraham was supposed to offer Isaac. Ishmael and his mother Haggar had been driven out of the camp years before this happened.

Abraham was from Ur in the fertile Cresent, and there; people did offer Children to appease angry gods;

This was simply a test of Abrahams faith; the true sacrifice (the ram) was already there.

Isaac...as it clearly states in the text.

Isaac was the spiritual link from Abraham to future generations...and thus his 'only' son. Ishmael, being raised by Hagar (an egyptian), did not embody the same values as his father or his brother and thus 'lost' the right to be called Abraham's 'only son'.

It is generally assumed that it was Isaac, since the promises made to Abraham passed to Isaac. Ishmael was never intended to be a Patriarch of the Jews, but instead is the father of the Arab people.
