My son is now in Iraq and I haven't heard from him since last X-mas, he's still alive. Is there anything on the internet set up to communicate in Iraq with family here in the U.S?

Depending on the branch of service, you can contact your local recruiting office and ask for assistance. You can also as the others stated: the American Red Cross and have a birth certificate or other document to substantiate you are his mother and they will assist you. If you know his unit no. it will assist them that much more. If you do know his unit number, you can possibly get more assistance from the recruiting office, as they can aid you in getting the correct APO address and possible email address or his Commander or Command Seargent Major. They will be able to reach out to him and find out why he has not contacted you for over a year.
Best of luck. Don't pay any attention to the jerk who posted about the raping, killing etc. Some people will write anything to get their name on a page.

As a Retired Navy Chief, I saw to many times of people not hearing from their son or daughter.
Again, Best of Luck

Remind him to write by sending post cards or paper and envelopes with stamps. It might encourage him to write.

Yes there is. Both MWR and the USO has gone a long way to keep the troops in touch their families. My suggestion is you contact his home post or unit and see if they can help. It would be constructive if you knew his unit and such stuff.

OH btw i reportrd the not so nice person for their flame.

If you know his social security number or can get the Social security office to contact him witout compermising where he is, that may help.

But on that note, you must prove you are the parent. No questions asked.

the American Red Cross can do a welfare check.. BUT the ARC and the Command cannot force him to contact you.

He has to be the one to send you his contact information, whether it is an email address or a postal address.
