Understanding the concept "god made us in his image"-
God Almighty did not make us in his image but he made the true inner self of us in his image. And our true inner self is our soul (atman in Hinduism) residing within our heart.
No human body is ever created by God. As we sow so shall be reap... nothing more or less! As we perform our karma... so shall be our future. God Almighty has got nothing to do with it. God Almighty never interferes with the creation of his.
On the contrary every soul (atman) existing in the whole of Cosmos was made by God Almighty in his image. The essence of all souls (atmans) is the same.
Now depending upon the residual balance of karma of a human being in a particular life... we get our next birth. And the body manifested by our soul (atman) varies from other bodies depending on the balance of karma of each and every individual.
It is only after gaining enlightenment that every enlightened soul draws upon itself the true image of God... all dross within having been removed forever... the soul comes back to its original pristine form... the image of God Almighty in its totality! Moses simply saw a small part of the majesty of God and after had to veil his face because it was too bright. God is Supreme. He is more powerful than everything in the universe put together. If any simple human were to see him, that human would die. Also, I don't think his image could be pervertized, since he doesn't have an actual body that we can comprehend.

God didn't show an image of himself because he's so huge no camera can take a Good shot of Thee! Believer's seeing God on the other hand is a Reward, and God doesn't want to mess the surprise!

God is a Spirit, and God is Love...Nobody on earth has ever seen the face of Father God (even Moses during his time here on earth, ref Exodus Ch. 33) . Moses seen the backside of God, which when God passed by Him, the Lord had to cover up Moses face b/c His Glory was too great and Moses would of died on the spot. No one can see the Father and withstand His Glory will living in the earthly body we have. Jesus said, if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.

God in all His infinite wisdom has reasons why he did not show himself, however; if I was to speculate I would say the reason is Faith. The Bible states that without Faith you cannot please God, you must believe in what you have not seen. Moses did not see God, but God said he allowed Moses to see His back as He (God) passed by so according to scripture no man has seen God.
Think about how much controversy there is about God's color and gender, just imagine if God was to show Himself to us, we would redicule and humiliate those who we consider not of God's image or likeness.
For those who believe God does not exist, because you haven't seen him, check this:
Blessed are they that have not seen yet believed (John 20:29)

One of the most amazing things about God is His love. A whisper of His touch could take the human body and send it into dust leaving your soul to go home.
God does not show Himself to the eyes of any creature, man or beast, because no one could look at God's face and live to tell the tale. He covered Moses eye's with His hand to protect him as He passed him by on the mountain.
When He did stand amongst us it was in a form that we could relate to without going mad. I.E.--- when He went looking for Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and when He came down to look over the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. He came in the physical appearance of a man.

What image could He possibly show you? God is ALL things! God is that which was, that which is, and that which is to come. God is showing Himself to you right now, in everything around you. If God were to show us only one image, then we would miss Him everywhere else. All things are Divine, and all things point back to the Creator. There is no one image. Life, and all the facets thereof, are the image and body of God.

He showed Himself to many of the ancient prophets who in turn only described His incredible glory and radiance. But also explicitly stating (as in the book of mormon) that they cannot write everything that they saw. I think it is significant that no detail about His facial features are indicated because when you weigh in the fact that there are billions of different faces in the world, It doesn't really matter how EXACTLY did He look. It is not pertinent to our salvation. He is as a man looks in the world, only Perfect and Glorified. And that is What God believes is pertinent.

If you read the account of when Moses saw Him, it was his back as he passed by. When Moses saw God on the mountain, he had to veil his face when he came down. God says that He is Light. Could it be that looking at His face would be like looking at the sun?? We would be destroyed if we looked into the sun up close. Or even got close period. :)

No,,God did not show Himself in the Fullest of His Glory simply because man (no man) has the ability to look upon Him and Live.
here are a couple of examples in Scripture
Exd 33:18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
Exd 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
Exd 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
Exd 33:21 And the LORD said, Behold, [there is] a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
Exd 33:22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
Exd 33:23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
And In The Book of John
Jhn 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].
