I had an aggressive dog, and was having to move into town, where he would be unsafe in a neighborhood. I emailed the AKC Breed rescue leader, and soon was flooded with experts that wanted to help. I chose a couple from another state, and they came over 1,000 miles to pick him up..He was successfully rehabbed, and is in a very happy forever home..(the trainers! they fell in love with him)

I hate it when owners want to pawn off the dog/cat with issues on someone esle or a shelter. Do you realize how many shleters cannot take any more animals because theya re overcrowded!!! Having an aggressive animal take that space is wrong. What if a shelter or rescue takes him and someone gets hurt????
If putting the dog down has been thought of, it probably needs to be done. It is better if the owner takes that burden than making a rescue or shelter do the dirty work.

Have him put to sleep before he does something that you are held liable for. It is not fair on those around you to keep him if he is as dangerous as you believe he is. Most owners will only see the best in their animals, so if you believe he is that aggressive he really must be a problem. It is not fair to try and offload the responsibility of this dog onto somebody else. Think of it as a lesson learned; either you are not suited to this breed, or need to be pickier about where you get your dog from.

If you place this dog with rescue PLEASE be honest about why and what he does and how aggressive he is.
I work with rescue and it is heartbreaking to us when we get a dog that we were lied to about how aggressive the dog is and we have to make the decision on what to do.
It would be great if we could find homes that would work for these dogs and SOMETIMES we can but most have to be put down and it is just as hard on us to have to put one down as it is on the owner.
Maybe harder as we feel like we failed the dog.
So if you own this dog and it is or could be decribed as dangerous or couuld hurt a human you must be honest with the rescue about the dog.
I know it is hard but it is the right thing to do for everyone involved and it is your responsibility.

If you are not going to keep him, and don't want to work with him, don't expect someone else to take care of your problem.
It is probably best for the dog in the long run to have him put down.
If he is that aggressive and has to be that monitored, then he is NOT safe, and most people do not have the time, energy or resources to try and modify this problem.
I wish him the best. Maybe you can look into a behaviorist and keep him.

If he's aggressive, he will most likely have to be put down no matter where you surrender him. I'm not trying to be cruel, only honest.
Please talk to your vet about euthanasia options, as it would be easier on him to have you there with him.
