stoisism is a self defence mechanism. yu probably had a heart breaking experience where you changed your openness to people. its something that snowballs where you suddenly realize that you don't feel anything. happiness misery, nothing. i did that to myself in high school. learning to love someone after you've taught yourself not to love will take a very long time. hug your parents tonight. build a relationship there and be poitive.

Sounds like you may be depressed. First see a family physician for a physical and tell them how you are feeling emotionally.

Are you emotionally shut off from your parents and family? Have you had a difficult upbringing? For example, emotionally unavailable parents will cause you to feel isolated. If they didn't pay you much attention while growing up (were always away from home, working many jobs, had drinking or drug problems which caused them to ignore you and focus on the drinking /drugs, or you were the victim of child abuse/beatings or sexual abuse) you probably need counseling to overcome this. And this kind of situation can happen at all income levels; money does not replace love or time with you. Not feeling anything is a way to protect yourself from further hurt.

I would see a talking doctor first--a school counselor, a psychologist, a social worker, or a counselor. See if they can get you to open up about your life and get strategies to "feel" again.

Last resort--see a psychiatrist for evaluation and medication. Psychiatrists are medical doctors that will assess you and give you anti-depressant medication to help you over this period in your life. However, DON'T expect them to "chat" much with you, they will refer you to a counselor for that. They are pretty much there to assess you, and treat the symptoms . You will have blood tests following the administering of prescriptions to see if you are getting adequate antidepressant.

Maybe they give you the most attention which you feel other people don`t give you.
Or maybe they have taught you not to trust others when you were very young so now this comes out in the form of emptiness from inside your brain. It is your subconsciousness that plays the biggest part! You think you don`t feel anything at all but this can`t be! Because we all need eachother to survive in this cruel world. We surely need more people than our parents! You love your friends, don`t you? Or your brothers or sisters if u have?

In my opinion you don`t realise love yet. Something very shocking has to happen for you to show your love. And then will be the right time for you to discover yourself as well!

It sounds like depression. A lot of people suffer from depression this time of year. But if yours has been ongoing, I strongly suggest you see someone to help you. Life can be totally different when the numbness leaves.
