As the name suggests, the roll of the United Nation's peacekeeping force is to:

-Establish
-Stabilize
-Prevent

A UN taskforce is made up troops from various member countries (ex: UK, India...). At the sign of trouble and after getting
approval from the UN Security Council , this force is deployed to the troubled region. Depending on the situation, they are deployed into a war zone or an area that would soon become a war zone.

Once in their operation zone, they "establish" their authority. For example, they tell people to go indoors and stay put. They try to defeat the confusion.

Second, they "stabilize" the zone. For example, if they are in a city, they block off a good portion and seal it off with peacekeepers and barbed wire. They put all the helpless civilians inside it to protect them from the warring factions. They also provide clothing, food and medical/surgical aid at this point.

Lastly, they try to "prevent" this from ever happening again by giving advice to the people, setting up places where they can run to when rebel militias attack and so on. The peacekeepers at this point usually stay in the area for some time before moving out.

There are UN peacekeeper in Lebanon and that they have got been no longer able to keep away from the main modern-day Israeli invasion and trashing of the Lebanese infrastructure ( worldwide airport in Beruit which had no longer something to do with border incident which Israel used as an excuse) Nor did the UN ward off the Israelis as they withdrew from abandoning 3 hundred, 000 unexploded cluster bombs. Israel additionally bombed UN faculties and centers in Gaza those days with the excuse that Hamas militants have been employing them. properly, because of the fact the worldwide press substitute into comfortably banned there substitute into no catching them in the lie different than the UN substitute into outraged at it and denied it. ( Oh properly, yet another team that "hates" Israel because of the fact it won't provide it a carte blanche to do as that's going to, while and how that's going to). incredibly, Israel controls Gaza ( a huge exterior penal complex) and in the event that they needed the UN there in an sensible presence ( ie. with weapons) the UN could be there, yet of direction conserving the peace in simple terms could propose the UN troops could could desire to call out the Israelis as properly as Hamas protection stress wing adult males. And that in simple terms won't do, extraordinarily because of the fact the Israel with the backing of the U. S. has disregarded considerable UN rulings against it because of the fact the get-pass. It desires to play the interest in the Mid East its own way whether meaning demonizing the folk of Gaza so they could starve and kill them because of the fact they voted for Hamas, ( Jee, ask your self why they did that???!!!--per probability once you provide human beings no determination however the crazies, then they get desperate as properly the PLO is corrupt and are finished Israeli toadies)

to make sure violence does not escalate. The UN is powerless though because they cannot engage the enemy unless fired upon first. Which pretty much means the UN force is useless, they just provide humanitarian aid (food, medicine etc)

Rules of engagement are different in different deployments, but it seems all too often the idea is to put disinterested bodies in the line of fire in hopes of shaming the warring sides into shooting less.

Typically they rape little girls and steal whatever they want from poor unarmed civilians. I don't believe this is what they were supposed to do, but there have been many instances that this is all they do.
