Yes but is one less painful than the other...NO! If you compare both scenarios for instance you are lonely constantly looking for love and never truly find it then its safe to say you may be sad and depressed most of the time but yet continue living. For me I have never lost anyone close but dread the day. On the other hand your married, in a relationship, and loose the one you love. They pass and this is life altering (to say the least) especially if tragic, i.e. killed in war, motorcycle accident. Do you regret ever having loved them, NO, but the loss and pain you feel is immense!Everything is relevant. If I lost my say husband I would be devastated but if he was older (80-90) and we lived a long happy life together than it would be expected, part of life and not tragic or devastating. What I mean is if you compare the emotions one goes through in either instance, being lonely verses loving & losing, I think having loved & lost can be so much harder in the end especially when the loss is tragic. Still though I personally have found the love of my life and hope everyone does if that's what they are in search of. I just thought I would dig a bit deeper and give a bit more insight into the statement.

It is best to have loved & lost. Each time your heart & spirit grows tremendously from experience. Try to never be bitter. The best is yet to come (when a relationship has ended).

Of course it is, becase when it happens again you seem to have a better idea of what to improve on and what not to do.
I've loved and lost a few times and each time its a new experience....it's how we learn in life.
Sad but true

yes definately!
although when you lose somebody you hurt inside for ages.. maybe for a whole lifetime but at least at the end of the day you got to spend time with that person, and you were once loved by that person.
