I think I prefer similar personalities in some ways, or at least similar senses of humour and things in common! In other ways, its not so great, as I get on my own nerves most of the time, and don't need someone real similar to me to do the same thing!

Opposite but still with similar interests so there is lots to talk about and you can always get alternate views on them.

i prefer dating people that have things in common with me but they don't have to have the same personality because that just makes htings dull. now if you have htings in common but you are able to have different sides of a topic then it makes you relationship able to be realistic and open. If oyu are able to talk to someone about naything like oyu views and feelings then it might work out and this will help you have a closer relationship with the person you are dating or in a relationship with.

There has to be a good mix. I like dating people who are different then me so I can learn new things and grow as a person.

I don't like people that are the total opposite of me. I like someone who has something in common with me, yet is very different as well.

I use to the think having so much in common was best and those relationships kept failing. So now I am dating my opposite, I am so much in love with him and love that we are so opposite. It keeps me on my toes.

A mix of both actually: our basic values should be common, but the way we use those values to interpret life can be different. That's what broadens your perspectives and helps you grow as a person.
