We make a production out of it..

Time to play beauty salon! Give her a shower, do the hair, make a huge production of it. Its time for Mommy to pamper her little one. Then do manicures and pedicures (well little girl ones..lol.) cut and polish.

Make this Mommy and Me time. Do facials (use baby lotion for hers), etc. etc. There are tons of things you can do. She will get into it and before you know it wont be an issue to cut those little nails.

I wouldnt let her do them though she can cut to low and end up causing herself alot of discomfort.

Do NOT let her do it herself. She could cut off a chunk of her skin and then NOBODY will be able to near her again. Either wait for her to go to sleep, or start to play the 5 little pigs on her toes so she gets used to you holding her toes. A promise to paint them, after they are cut, might make her come around too.

By saying "her" toenails, you must have a girl? Girls, by age three, usually are into nailpolish. I agree...make a game of it. Explain to her that you need to do this and next time you're at the store have her pick out her favorite nail polish (you can get those little Bon Bon bottles for under $1). Then, after you clip them, put a pretty coat of polish on. It's kind of like a reward for being good about the clipping. Good Luck!

Do NOT let a 3 year old trim her own toenails!!! There is too much of a chance she will cut too much or cut herself.

Try doing it while she is asleep or making a game of it. Tell her that big girls have to trim their fingernails and toenails!

Well, don't let her do it herself, geesh! Do it while she is sleeping, or while she is in the carseat and can't go no where. Make it into a fun game.....if it is hurting her toes, she is 3, you need to do it...sit her down and tell her she is going to get it done. That is not good on her feet.

I always count the toes as i cut them that way she will learn to count and also know when you are almost done. But you may have to hold her down, it's for her own good.

This is a real problem - my nine year old STILL wont let me near her finger or toe nails - it is a nightmare!!

I wait until she is asleep and cut them then - it helps that she is a heavy sleeper.....

Best of luck!
