Maybe he means it in a nice way - maybe he likes you fat and he feels that's what makes you attractive (most guys like curvy women - only women and gay men think skinny chicks with no curves are attractive!)

It all has to depend on how he is...if he's a jerk then he is probably trying to tell you that your gots lose some weight. But if he is a sweet person which he probably is...he is probably trying to think of a better word to use for cute like adorable or something.

Maybe another thing to think about to is if he is trying to say that you should lose weight why would he call you chubby and not just tell you that you were fat (not saying that you are...just describing :D )? I think it really depends on the kind of person that your man is....chubby is not always negative....

No, when someone says chubby, that just means they dont have a lot of fat on them, but some. Fat means that you are sickly obese. I went on urbandicionary.com (which by the way has every word known to man defined) and i typed in "Chubby" this is what came up:

If he is latino and its calling you "gordita" which means chubby in spanish, then its not a big deal because they use it as much as we use the word "babe"
Now if he is not latino then it is an issue. I cant see why I would call my girl or any girl chubby, unless I just hit puberty and I have no clue on how girls think.
Just tell him you dont like to be call chubby and if he keeps calling that then call him names too, see if he likes it
