Thanks!

It should be any hybrid/alternative fuel vehicle that applied for the decal. It doesn't matter how many passengers, however as previously stated I believe they are running low on decals to issue.

They shouldn't allow any hybrids in the HOV lane unless they have more than one passenger. Caltrans is speaking out of both sides of their mouths.....they want you to car pool to reduce the number of vehicles on the road, and at the same time are giving permits out to hybrids that can be driven solo in the HOV lanes. In San Diego, you can even buy a permit (hybrid or not) to use the HOV lanes.

In maximum states it works like this. you are able to force solo interior the HOV lane in the adventure that your automobile has a particular sticky label. you are able to purely get the certain sticky label for particular fashions of automobile, i.e. hybrids. once you've a hybrid, yet no longer a sticky label, you are able to get a foul ($three hundred) value ticket for using interior the HOV lane. it really is a level of annoyance for those that completely convert their automobiles to battery-electric powered, because they want the HOV lane more beneficial than each person (for cruising variety) yet can't get it because that's no longer an approved variety.

It has to be ok by the CA DOT approve vehicle. They are running low on the permits for the HOV lanes. Once they are gone they are gone even if you purchase an approved vehicle

Your car MUST have the "carpool lane OK" sticker on the rear bumper. Don't solo in the carpool lane without it!

Only certain cars can get the sticker. The answer above has a link which lists them.

If you want it, hurry -- the program was only authorized for a few thousand cars, and two months ago they were saying they were nearly out.
