Good manners have gone by the wayside in todays world, however, they are jsut as important as they ever were. Just becasue no one seems to be practicing them, doesn't make them less important. General politeness is wonderful! When I see someone practicing good manners, it makes me feel good. It makes me smile, instead of frowning through life like I normally do these days. Opening doors, saying thank you and please, complimenting someone, sending a thank you card....all make us feel connected and good. In this age of rush-rush and technology, the genuine things seems to disappear. So practicing good manners is refreshing!

I'm not sure why it seems okay to be rude but I think good manners is what separates us from the uncivilized. Parents have so dropped the ball in teaching their children manners. Even single parents without an education can insist on good manners from their children.....and should!!

A casual approach for some issues can be a good thing, but in general we do need to retain good manners to keep everything flowing in an efficient manner. Even traffic flow can depend on courtesy- letting someone cut in when they need to pull out from a gas station...... easy to do, and keeps things moving.

manners are everything. people 'grade' you on your manners, if you posess good manners then the more people are to like you and want you around them. if you posess bad manners then the more people are not to like you and don't want you around them for the fear of embarrassment.

Less and less important every day. Soon, it will be an outdated practice - kind of like sending letters via mail. It's not practical enough and why bother when there are other ways to get what you want?

Sad, really.
