Because 13 is too young and the father actually cares about his daughter's well-being. If you are talking about your dad, be thankful you have a father who cares or for that matter a father period.

Because at 13 a girl has romantic visions of what a relationship is, and of what motherhood is. 13 year old girls have a completely unrealistic view of the world and wouldn't have a clue how to handle themselves in even the most basic of dating situations.
Tell a 13 year old girl that she's pretty and special and she'll do anything, that has been proven over and over and over again, it plays out in the news every day.
Think about this, why would a guy of dating age want to date a 13 year old girl, who is still really just a child? Because she is an easier target than girls his own age.
I don't see anything wrong with group dating. A bunch of girls and a bunch of boys, then, even if there is some coupling going on, it's in a safe environment where, hopefully, your friends will all have eachother's backs. Movies, skiing, the beach, parties at home, hanging out, anything in a group would be fine with me, as long as my daughter was home by ten. That would be my rule.

It should not matter if it is a daughter or son. A 13 year old does not have the maturity to understand all of the consequences of thier actions. That having a boyfriend or girlfiend at this age is a distraction from things that are important for them to learn so that they can be successful in life. That they just started having hormones rushing through there body and they should be able to adjust to these so that they can make good decisions instead of doing something that could cause long term harm.

Because they love you and are trying to protect you. We, as fathers, remember what we were like at that age and want to do everything we can to protect our daughters from the teen-age boys we were.
I personally believe 13 is to young to be "dating", whether you are a boy or a girl. At that age I think group dates to the mall, movies etc are great and can be just as much fun, without the pressures and dangers of one-on-one dating.
I also believe though, that if a parent is involved in his son's and/or daughter's life, they teach them the right values and put enough faith in them to make the right decisions.
Take you time hun, do not hurry to grow up. There will be plenty of time to date, meet boys, and enjoy life. Right now, enjoy being young, because you are only there once without all the stresses that life puts on you.
Peace

Fathers are protective. There are so many bad people and influences around and 13 is a very young and impressionable age. Parents want to make sure that children are mature and responsible enough to make sure their children will make the correct desicions. 13 is a young age to start dating around or to have a serious relationship. There are more important things that a child should be focusing on.

I am not the father, and think it is too young, they want no commitments, and then thy wait till later in life, to even think about anything more serious. The girls also want to finish their education and work a while, therefore the dating age can wait as well.

At 13, you are still a baby. There is no way you should be allowed to date. Enjoy being young, do things with your friends and don't be so anxious to grow up.
