Does the cold weather affect them? I am reasonably young (28), some days they are fine, today they are killing me.

Arthiritis does run in my family I believe.

It may run in the family due to similar habit patterns in eating, but it is nothing you can't correct yourself. The more you study on this acid condition, the better, but obviously it is to diet that we have to look.
Mine was corrected through vitamin intake in any form you like. There are some really good products on the market..and the other thing is to really take a good hard look at greens, grains, fruit and nuts:
Try this:
Breakfast: at least five fruits in a big bowl, adding dried if you want (soaked the night before) and nuts, with yoghurt. You can buy a product called calcium-magnesium, in a powder form.. I know of a good one under the label of Nature Fresh.. add this to the yoghurt separately, as it is a little tangy on the tongue, or drink in milk. for tea have lemon in water or an apple. For lunch have a goodly salad with two slices of toast, white or brown, with grated cheddar or cottage cheese. At night have a plate of at least five vegetable. Do this for two weeks regularly, and it may become a habit. All the while take a good complex B, lots of carrot salad or daily carrot and beetroot juice, with celery for good measure. By- by arthritis.

Could be anything really. However, I've had similar problems and have found that a daily capsule of codliver oil works wonders - you'd be surprised! And it's good for your hair and nails too.

A glucosamine supplement might be useful for you too, it was recommended to me by a physiotherapist friend, and I'm only 27, so it's not just for old people!
