I had my appendix out, it takes about 2 days to be able to walk around, about 1-1/2 to 2 weeks to be able to go back to work for a non-physical job and about 6 to 8 weeks to be able to fully heal.

It depends on if it ruptures or not. Mine ruptured, and it was emergency surgery. I was very sick for about 3-4 days, (high fever, etc.). I was out of work for 6 weeks, and I had an office job.

My daughter had an appendectomy earlier this year, but it didn't rupture. They went through her navel, and she had three little tiny incisions. She went back to work in less than 2 weeks.

You will always have a scar from when it was taken out, and it usually takes 6-8 weeks before they allow you to endure physical activity again.
