I believe I have OCD. In fact, I'm 99% sure I have it, but I don't know how I can get diagnosed. Do I just go see a regular doctor? Should I consult a specialist? Help, what do I do?

Yes, it does intefere with my daily life. I know the signs of OCD, now I just want to be officially diagnosed.
@ Soccer Coach - LOL. Not familiar with this illness are you?
And yes, I think OCD is something you "have." It can develop in later life, so it's something you acquire, not something that is part of you.

How bad is your OCD and can you control it? Is it "Adrianne Monk" bad, or just a matter of rearranging things to suit your self?
If your OCD does not interfere with your life, the lives of those around you, your job,..., then I would not worry about it. Embrace it and have fun with it.
If your OCD does interfere, then see a doctor and get treatment.

Regular doctors would be ill-equipped to diagnose many mental issues. I'd say start with a psychologist (not psychiatrist) and see if you can work though it without medications.
By the way, OCDs are not considered "problems" unless it prevents or interferes with your normal life.

Go to your doctor tell him what you have read. This in itself might be a whole other diagnoses all together. That is thinking you have something that you read over the computer. Many people who have been diagnosed with disorders etc. and do not want them! In same cases even admitting you have something means you do not have what you think you do.
Go to your doctor from there you will get a real diagnoses, from there then you can then find help.
Good luck....

The best thing to do is see a Psychiatrist, they can put you through therapy and prescribe you medication, you do need it if the OCD is bad enough and they will make sure you get the proper medication you need and you will be able to set appointments with them as much as needed.

Go to a regular doctor first and tell him whats going on, if he agrees then he will refer you to a specialist.

I would start by seeing a primary care doctor/general practitioner/family doctor. He may actually refer you to a psychologist for treatment, but a good starting point would be your regular internist/family doctor.

Consult your primary physician first. He can refer you to a Psychiatrist or Psychologist for treatment. I don't know about meds, but I know there are therapy treatments out there.

You'd be best off seeing a psychiatrist, they could help teach you some coping skills and get you some medication.

OCD isn't something you have...it is something you are. A good therapist can diagnose but you may need a shrink if you need meds.
