White spot in Tonsil?

In the back of my throat where my tonsil is, there is this little white spot. What is it?? Do I really need to go to the doctor for this or is there any home remedies I can use to get rid of it. When I scrape some parts of it, it grows back. Sometimes I can feel it in the back of my tongue

I had this too after a course of antibiotics and it was a fungal infection.You could try corsodyl mouthwash which is quite good at treating this. If you have any pain in your throat then I would think a trip to the docs would help just to be sure. You shouldn't really scrape the spots off yourself as this can cause infection/inflame the soft throat tissue and that would be painfull.

I reckon this is something called a 'tonsillolith'. These are little hard white/yellow spherical-ish lumps about 2-5mm in diameter. They seem to sort of grow in the tonsil holes, and you might sometimes cough one up into your mouth.

I don't think they are harmful or a sign of anything bad. In my experience they build up over days and weeks and are the result of swallowing tongue fur. One remedy would be to brush your tongue when you brush your teeth, and try to avoid swallowing this tongue fur. This should stop them from developing.

You can sometimes squeeze them out using your fingers. Make sure you wash your hands properly first though or you will get a throat infection.

White spots on the tonsils are often strep (bacterialogical), thrush (fungal), or herpes (viral). I'd see a doctor.
