has there ever been any people (historians, critics) that gave any credibility to the assertation that L Ron Hubbard might have created Scientology simply to demonstrate the "human will to believe," thusly criticisizing all religions. I have never heard this theory until i thought of it myself. It would make sense, in a way, with him being a "science fiction" author, and all.

I doubt it was created JUST to make a statement. It does, after all, drain most members of almost every penny to their name. If it were just a harmless lesson, they'd give the money back and say "now, I hope you learned something valuable... be more discerning!"

It was REALLY created on a bet and ultimately to be a business.

L. Ron Hubbard and another writer mutualy decided the only way to get power and become rich was to start a religion. They made a bet on who could start a religion first. Hubbard won, thus creating scientology. Its easily the most rich "religion" you'll find.

The cult is mostly a high powered scam. It pays members 10% commissions, called FSM (Field Staff Member) commissions, on new recruits they bring in who take a course or get counseling, so Scientology members routinely try to "sell" Scientology to others.

Never heard of it. It is false. I am a Scientologist and I can tell you this isn't true. Scientology is not against other religions. Reversely, Scientology constantly meets with other religious leaders is resolving situations in our communities.

Ron Hubbard is the most published and translated author per Guinness World Records. He has also had 19 New York Times bestsellers and 230 million of his works have been published. He has written in many genres including western, action, adventure, horror, suspense, science fiction -- not to mention his humanitarian works of Dianetics and Scientology. His "science fiction" work is not the largest percentage of his writings.

No. But even a minor amount of inspection or investigation of the past and present facts, by anyone, critic, historian, layman... would completely disprove such a "theory".
Why would ANYONE want criticize and degrade all religions in this insidious manner!

Yes, it does seem to be a logical possibility. But, then, writers often base their books on experiences or dreams. So, it is a mystery as to what really inspires him.

I've never read any research or published theory's but it is a good theory. I've always looked at them and the Mormons as one big pyramid scheme. People pay to recruit more people who in turn do the same.

Happiness, exhilaration, depression and psychosis are states of mind, not diseases. All what you have to do to stop being depress is change your state of mind. How you do that?
