What do you believe and why?

We believe that the Divine is in everything and therefore everyone and all living things are a part of the Divine.

We believe that since everyone is a part of the Divine then no one is above another.

We believe in Karma and reincarnation.

We believe in the power of ourselves (magick) as opposed to having to ask for help from a higher power (pray).

We believe that the Divine has both male and female energy and therefore we honor both in the form of the God and the Goddess.

We believe the Earth is sacred and mother to us all and we must heal Her from what others have done to Her.

We believe in psychic powers as an extension of ourselves (Creative visualization).

We believe we are both physical and spiritual entities.

We believe in the Wiccan Rede (Law) that states, "An' in it harm none, do as thou whilst".

We believe what you put forth to others returns to you threefold, both good and bad.

We believe that we are all responsible for our actions, sayings like "It is God's will" and "The Devil made me do it" are just cop-outs.

And we don't believe in going door to door to recruit others, if their path is with us, so mote it be, if not, then so be it. We don't look to discourage other paths.

Blessed Be )O(

Wow...that's a pretty loaded question, but intriguing. I believe that religion is what you make of it. I live in the bible belt, and I see many Christians around here that go to church every Sunday (including my 8 year old daughter...but I think she does it because her friends go, and she has a good time, so more power to her) and dress up, and believe with their whole heart. Then there are those that use their religion to make themselves look good.
As for me, I haven't officially decided... religion must be a deeply personal and powerful commitment. I must say, I agree totally with what Wiccans stand for... being close to nature, seeing both the male and female aspects of everything, having few-if any- gender roles, and knowing that their Deity(s) need them as much as Wiccan's do (just to name a few).
Of course, there are many many many religions in the world, and some folks are quick to make a comment or two without really knowing much about it.
So, I say, whatever makes your heart happy, and as long as what you do doesn't harm others, get to it.

I have to add a little more...Witchcraft is not what you've seen in movies...Hollywood needs to make a few bucks (yeah, right) so they put on the screen what the public wants to see. Casting spells on other people would conflict with the cardinal rule that whatever you do should not be used to harm, control or manipulate other people. Spells could be compared to prayer, most likely...in other words, I could cast a spell upon myself to be more understanding, but not upon another person to make them understand (unless that's what they want me to do).

No one wiccan believes exactly the same as another as different groups worship different earth deities

Well, I can't say that I know, but it made me think about a girl I used to work with. She was a catholic, but she married a wiccan, she always seemed happy and she always spoke well of him. But her brother died and her husband refused to go to the funeral because it was a catholic funeral and he was a wiccan. They separated after that and she moved away, so I don't know what happened. I'm catholic, but if my husband's brother died and the service was held in a different religion, I'd still go to support him, idk, I thought it was selfish and stupid. My friend said "that's what she gets for marrying a warlock" I have to admit I laughed even though I knew it was wrong.

I was told by a Wiccan woman that it is basically the belief of witch craft. That spells and such really can have an effect on people. I think it sounds corny, but I didn't go out with her again. I thought it was a little wierd.
