Everyone falls short, this is true. And a murderer can be saved, this is also true. But if we are practicing our sins with no remorse then we are not living in Christ. A Christian feels bad about the sins they commit and wants to stop. They dont just "say" it, they feel it in their very soul. Could someone commit murder and feel very bad about it? Definitely... but if they're not sorry for their actions (even the "small" sins) they the Holy Spirit isnt in them.
The Bible says you will know them ( true Christians/saved) by their friuts
Gal 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Anyone can claim that they are one religion or another but their claim is hollow in light of what they do.
How can someone claim to be a Christian, which by definition means a follower of Christ, and not follow what He taught? The two are incongruous to each other.
I think that you would agree that a person could claim to be a scientist but if they do not follow the accepted scientific method of proving and disproving hypothese and theories then you would have to say that their claim was empty. They were not really scientists.
Why can't you accept or understand that the same is true for those who claimed to be Christians. I went to the web site that you listed and saw a line which stated that these serial killers were able to violate basic tennents of the faith they claimed without any stress at all. Doesn't this at least suggest as a possible explanation that they never truly embraced Christianity in the first place? Doesn't it make more sense that they used Christianity as a mask to hide behind while they imposed thier perverted desires on others?
I do admit that Christians are sinners, they do things that are not healthy, even things to be ashamed of... yet there is the test. Are they ashamed? Do they feel guilty about their offenses? Do they repent?
Of course anyone can, again, claim to be a Christian and repent, feel guilty, etc. Neither you nor I can judge which ones are sincere, But they cannot hide themselves from God. He knows the intents and thoughts of the heart. He will be able to judge.
What about you? God is looking into your heart too. Have you confessed to Him your sins? Have you asked for His forgiveness? Have you accepted His free gift of salvation? Maybe those are questions that you really need to have answered.

I am not one of those christians that says a christian can't murder. It just makes no sense to do so. In the bible it talks about being caught in a sin. In other words, a christian through erroneous thinking or weakness gives in to a sin and becomes a slave to it. In cases like those, other christians are to go to that persons side and in a loving way bring that person into an understanding that it is a sin, it is unhealthy and help them out of that sin. I don't know any christians personally that claim to be sinless.
As far as serial killers...just because they were raised in a church doesn't make them a true believer, no more than standing in a bakery makes you a doughnut.
The bible says you will know a christian by their fruits. A bad tree can't make good fruit and a good tree can't make bad fruit. If you truly have the love of God in your life, you will love others...not murder them for your own sexual or otherwise selfish gratification. I don't care what a serial killer says about being christian, I don't believe it just because of their fruits. Murder is not a fruit of the spirit.

Truth is some are and some aren't. Murder is a sin...so is lying. If someone murders then come to Christ they will be forgiven...if someone murders but are not truly repentant they just say they are...they will not find forgiveness. God knows our hearts! We are all human full of emotion....we will screw up but if we are really CHRISTians we will do our very best not to!

A REAL Christian would not kill. Acting Christian is not the same as being a Christian (Christ-like). Determining "what drives a man to kill" is not due to a negative effect of Christianity. That simply does not make sense--I'm struggling to be a better person so I guess I'll go kill 10 prostitutes.

Have you ever heard the phrase "The Devil sits in the front row"? It is true that the way some children are raised causes them to be rather wacky in the head as adults. Not Jesus' fault.

being a Christian means that you have accepted Jesus into your heart...going to church or reading ur Bible does not make u a Chrisitan. Many people say they are Christians, but have never truly accepted Jesus....also, being raised in a Christian home does not make u a Christian....i was raised in one, but didnt give my life to Jesus until i was 14. Jesus loves u and I am praying for you!

Because Jesus only gave us two laws: Love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Evil people don't do these, therefore are not His Followers.
Evil people do not repent. Those who repent no longer do evil.

I love your question! I agree, most christians love to use the line theyre not real/true christians, however those christians: the serial killers, the pedos, the liars, the rapists, were just as devout as the ones *defending them by default* (defending by default is when the person saying they werent true christians is christian themselves, and therefore defending them because of the religious club they belong to)

Christians are not perfect. To be like Jesus is to be perfect. Through our mistakes we learn. And through forgiveness we spread love to all to become a better human being!
