I was taking pics with my camera and turned the dial to view the pics and my screen turned purple. I sent it in to Sony and they are saying that somewhere along the line, the camera had impact damage - even though it was still working at the time. They won't fix it. What can I do or say to make them fix it without me paying the $200 they want? Help!

This is a common tactic by consumer electronics companies. Devices like MP3 player and digital cameras can be pretty much guaranteed to get some "impact damage" over time. So a manufacturer can claim that impact damage was the reason for the damage and refuse warranty due to "user neglect".

Assuming you didn't actually drop it majorly(no large dents or significant scratches on the camera) then call them up again. Explain that the camera has been well cared for and has never been dropped. If they claim impact damage, request to speak to a higher up(manager) and stay calm. Don't get angry or they are likely to give you more trouble. Explain your disappointment with Sony's warranty service and tell them you have been a life long customer of Sony products and have always recommended them to friends and family(if you work retail if you can say you always recommend them to customers based on your good experiences up until now).

Hopefully they will make an "exception" as that is the word the usually use and will give you proper warranty service. The most important thing to remember is to stay cool and collected and not lose your temper. Say please and thank you when they transfer you to a manager. Remember, a person just like you is taking your call, so treat them like how you would like to be treated if you worked for the company.

Do you have any variety of provider plan or prolonged guarantee on it? If no longer, it quite is going to value over $250 for Sony or any restore place to even look at it. It is basically no longer coated by Sony's guarantee as a results of fact the digital camera replaced into dropped. there won't be the thank you to repair this. I see if widely used.

The physical size of the chip. One won't fit in the other's slot.
