Okay, here is is, disgusting question of the day:

If you have a cold, the germs are in your snot, right? What happens if you pick your nose and eat it while you have a cold, it's like eating germs, right? Like, you'd never get rid of your cold, right? That's so gross...

Wrong, your body develops immunity to that particular strain. Your cold will dissipate as usual because your antibodies will destroy that type of cold. The problem is that colds mutate, it's not that you get the same cold, it's that you get a different strain. If you went to a desert island with no other people on it and got over your cold, you would never have a cold again. What happens normally in a flu season is this, someone gets a cold their body develops antibodies and their cold is irradicated. Some of the cold during the development of antibodies escapes before it is killed and mutates. Since you've had that strain you won't get it again but say you kiss someone while you've been sick, then given a couple of days after your better you kiss them again...since the cold has left your body and dealt with someone elses immune system it has mutated and is now different from what you had before...you become infected again, but with a new strain.

A cold is caused by one of the various several hundred strains of the Rhino virus, and picking your nose and eating it, while a very gross habit, will have nothing to do with how long it takes you to get over or catch a cold. When your nose is running, it is how your body reacts and fights off the cold, so you are already building up antibodies to fight it off at that stage. However, if you don't have a cold, and you somehow consume someone else's mucous, then you do run the risk of catching their cold (that's even more gross).

yeah it is pretty gross but not as bad as everything else you eat! Imagine how many germs were on that hot dog you had for lunch or swimming around in your soup at that fancy restaurant you took your girlfriend to last night (don't ask me how I know). I just try not to think about it (lol)!

I don't think that most people past the age of 3 eat their boogers. However, I think that the stomache acids would kill off the germs.

If you eat it then all that happens is that the stomach digests them, the enzymes break it down and the stomach acids kill quite a few of them so you wouldn't become ill again.

the snot in your nose and your so-called-boogers..act as an air filter for your nose..taking in all of the dirty air and filters it through your nose to give you clean air..so if u were to eat your boogers and/or snot (so gross) then it is like eating your air condioners dirty air filter..or your cars..air filter..it is not healthy
