I used to be a cutter... I did it cause I didn't know how to express myself otherwise... cutting helped hide and mask alot of emotional pain I was feeling inside... I also used to burn myself, punch walls and pull out my hair... all of this was a way to deal with my emotions when I didn't know how else to. It is actually alot more common than most people think it is. It's just that people are afraid of what others will think of them so even if they know they need help to overcome it they will not seek out help and don't know where to turn to find people that understand what they are going through. Although it is alot more common with females I have known males that do this also.

The reason some men and women like pain is because it is an adreline rush. They like the endofines there body releases when they are hurt. Same reason somepeople get off on being strangled. No it does not mean they need psychiatric help however they should get to the bottom of why they do that threw a therapist. Before something happens that is tragic.

Some people have different thresholds for pain. What feels bad to us actually feels good to them. Sometimes its a mental problem sometimes its just about having control over yourself. The things that I read about cutters and people who starve themselves are making up for not having control over other parts of their life. Abusive parents boyfriends etc. Most people have a similar view that this is not normal behavior and definitely not healthy.

Some woman do this as an act of security. Cutting is just a way of releasing pent up anger. Most times If a person feels as if they have no control in their lives, they will do risky activities that help them feel as if they have that control and relief. Keep in mind, it's not just women, but men too engage in it.

Actually, guys do manage agony greater on the grounds that, most often, they effortlessly think LESS agony. There are a couple of elements that give a contribution to this: Women have extra densely packed nerve endings, and guys have extra adrenaline once they enjoy agony. These elements, together with a couple of others, support guys think much less agony than ladies most often. The ONE exception (and this pertains for your edit) is little one delivery. Women pass via a couple of organic techniques for the duration of exertions, akin to a surge of estrogen, which is helping alleviate the emotions of agony, that enable them to think much less agony, and surpassing the agony tolerance of guys.

There are also males who like this sort of thing. These people have problems, mental problems.
I have chronic pain and in no way do I "like it"!! It would be nice to trade bodies with one of these gals and they can have pain all they want....
I would think this is not a real common problem, that is liking pain?
