Despite your rectal similitude, there is a kernel of truth in that. At the onset of the World Wars, the U.S. had tiny military forces completely unable to fight in major conflicts. Korea also left us with some nasty surprises. During the Cold War by necessity it became U.S. policy to keep a military force large enough to act as something of a deterrent. And we have reserved the right to act pre-emptively in the event of an imminent threat to us.

I don't like this current war, but this question is ignorant. You are suggesting there was something wrong with the US trying to avoid the wars and being forced to act when they became threatened. Isn't that what much of Europe has done this time in Iraq? They tried to avoid war and only acted if/when they were threatened/attacked themselves.

That said, this war is a disaster and I am ashamed at myself for comparing it to WWII. I just wanted to point out how myopic and obviously jaded that question was.

Very foolish. If you don't realize that the 3rd world war has been underway since 1979, I pity you. Don't belittle the United States when we have sacrificed so much of our own blood for the sake of freedom in this world.

LOL...if we start it, we will surely end it as well. Many of us plan to still be standing up, while most of the world cries about "why?", "Me?".....sooner or later, US soil may just end up being the ONLY safe place in the world to be.

That is untrue. The US wasn't late in WW1 or WW2. They had to come in and finish a job the Brits or French couldn't do.

What do you mean late. They were both started by stupid Eurotrash and we ended up having to bail them out both times.

If other countries had not fought so poorly and lost so quickly we would never have had to get involved in the first place.

I don't see why. When we showed up, we finished the job, didn't we?
