i'm not sure whether to buy hp photosmart r727 6.2 mp or the photosmart r827 7.2 mp, some friends tell me that the r827 is a good buy for the buck cause it comes fully loaded with built in software and both camera's are 24x total zoom(3xoptical,8x digital) any comments? thanks for your input

First of all, ignore digital zoom. It is just a quick way to degrade your picture quality. Optical zoom is what you want to look for if you want to zoom.

You can go to www.dpreview.com to research features and read user and professional reviews of many cameras.

How much is the HP camera you are interested in? I would take that amount of money and buy whatever Canon, Nikon, or Olympus was in the same price range. I almost guarantee you'd get a better camera.
