"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God."
Luke 1:34-5

"She said: 'O my Lord! how shall I have a son when no man has touched me?' He said: "Even so: Allah creates what He wills: when He has decreed a Plan, He but says to it, 'Be,' and it is!"
Quran 3:47

Read that again. The Bible says 'Holy SPIRIT'. Not spirits. And the result of that overshadowing is the SON OF GOD. How clear does it have to be for you to see it? The Holy Spirit IS GOD.

So which is better? A generality or a specific description?

The basic reality is that Mary had a shag just as every other conception requires. Whether it was Joseph or someone else is open to debate.

When girls TODAY on Y!A say things like "my boyfriend and I had sex but I didn't orgasm, does that mean I am still a virgin" - it is reasonable to assume that sex education was perhaps not all that great back then either.

If she had a kid, she had a shag - unless they had turkey basters back then too. I don't mind folks having a faith - truly I don't - but please try and understand that some parts of the Bible REALLY are not meant to be taken toooo literally.

Old men with their own agendas writing over hundreds of years, then translation (multiple) interpreatations and "re-writes" and clarifications all manage to obfuscate what tiny grains of thruth there might once have been.

She was NOT a virgin!

Jewish concept---------a mistranslation of the word for virgin. 72 Rabbis translated the Septuagint from Hebrew to Greek. They, the church revamped it before Okayed it for use.

The Greek translation that we have is not the one done by the rabbis. Naarah is found in many places in Torah, always means a young woman (perhaps virgin perhaps not). Betulah is found in many places in Torah, always means a virgin.

Mary was ''a virgin'' once the church made their changes.
