I can find the house and dock we start from, using the address and satellite shot, easier than I could decipher a map of just the lake, and want to see a layout of the bottom terrain, drop-offs, etc., but can't figure out how to get that. Any help? Thanks.

I don't think you can, but what you can do is look at the shoreline and the contour of the land around the lake. You can look at points and steep banks also where creeks come into the lake. Most stock ponds are made in natural ravines or low areas. If you see a stock pond in the area of shoreline (above water level) chances are there will be another pond that was dammed up on the same valley or draw below water level. I hope this makes sense to you. I guess what I'm trying to say is look at the land around the lake and just extend the features below water level

You won't be able get get contour data. We use sattelite maps to tell us mainly the water clarity. If you see dark black and blue looking water.....that means clear water. If you see brown......that is muddy water. You can use that as a tool to tell you what areas to eliminate. If you want contour data, I would buy a fishing hot spots map (cheapest) or if you have cash, buy a GPS and a Navonics chip. The former will cost you 5 bucks and the latter will cost about 500. Hope this helps.
