It is definitely a form of bread. It's made of corn meal instead of wheat flour, and has no yeast. Calories for one tortilla is about the same as for a slice of bread.

Apparently it was just found to legally NOT be bread. The lawsuit had to do and was brought by a Sub shop in a strip mall that had a no compete clause in the contract, meaning the owner of the strip mall could not rent out any other places in this strip mall to sandwich shops. Well he rented out one to a tortilla place and the sub shop sued saying tortillas were bread. The Court found that tortillas are not bread and therefore the tortilla shop could stay.

Yes....they are. There are two kinds...flour and corn. But both are forms of bread...just unleavened. So therefore could be used in 'the last supper.'

BTW gemmyt.....the courts have gone stupid. I don't care what they say....they are a bread!!
