I started on friday but already yesterday i left one hour before as i was feeling very unwell and eventually had a panick attack on the tube. Then today i left 3 hours early as i wasn't feeling well. It is not a chronic and is a side effect of a medication i have been taking. I explained that to my bosses. Although they seem to understand, i am worried they will tell me to leave soon. The condition should go away in a few days. Would you sack me if you were my boss?

Thank you, some answers are very down to earth but helfpul. If i was a boss, i would actually be very concerned too. But they saw i wasn't bullushiting, they were actually about to call 999 as they freaked out when i couldn't breath, in fact, i even said to them i would understand if they did not want me to be back tomorrow.

I'm an HR Manager and I would have concerns but I certainly wouldn't sack you. I would wait the few days that you had told me it would take and then judge you on your performance after that.
If you showed that normally you are dedicated and have a valuable in put then I would consider the start a blip. If you didn't show this then I would then start to think about the next step.
Good luck, get well and let yourself shine when you get back in there

Most people feel panicky when they start a new job, let alone if you are a sesitive person.I know becuase I've been in the same situation. But my bosses were not that nice & I'm glad i left anyways. Your bosses seem like kind, understanding people so just expalain to them you're nervous as it's your first few days & once you settle in you'll be fine. If they do fire you, then you know you don't even want to work for them anyways!
I wouldn't sack you becuase you're honest & you're doing your best to cooperate & resolve the situation.
I know GP's do referalls for CBT (cognitive behaviuoral therpay on the NHS) which would help with panick attacks.
I have found deep breathing is very helpful (not just when u have the panick attacks) but every few hours take a deep breath, hold it for a few seconds, inhale more, hold..hold a bit more & exhale.

There is such a thing as the disability act. I do not no if you qualify for it but this employer maybe reluctant to fire you for this fact alone.
My Mr. is a boss where he works. We talked about me going out and getting work. We both agreed that it would not be in the best interest for our family, myself or the employer; to find a job then not be able to walk one day or have my disabled son have a problem I would have to deal with or not want to take my pain killers on the job.
It sounds as if you have a GREAT job! If these are just side effect hopefully they will subside. You are new at your job and once you get relaxed there the attacks will subside. The stress you are feeling about what they are thinking is not doing you well either, I feel!
Just stick it out. You are VERY lucky you found such a employer. They are VERY lucky they hired such a person like yourself. It is hard to find workers who are devoted and wanting to work so bad!
Keep your chin up :0)

If your work ethic and performance is above average during the hours you do work I would give you more time. If you are only average or below average during the hours you work I would sack you. I don't have time to babysit people, I have a business to run. That may sound harsh but I have a family to support too and if I'm wasting time and money on a future-less employee then my family suffers. My suggestion.... Be the best employee they have ever had for what ever hours you do work and be VERY apologetic when you must leave early.

I wouldn't, but I have been discriminated against because of anxiety and depression. It's nice that your employer is so understanding, but here is my solid advice: Join a union! I could have taken my employers to court for constructive dismissal if I had been in the union. Lesson learnt. Also, make your problem very clear, in writing if you have to, so that you have something to fall back on.
Luckily I am passed it now and seem to be living a normal life without the medication. I am in a good steady job and I've never had to take time off for it. You will get there, it just takes time.
It's all very easy for those who have never had it to think that you're just a slacker. As for the moronic person below who said he's sack you on a Friday, you don't deserve to be an employer.

As you are adjusting to the new change in which you are going to commit yourself to a large portion of your time and your life, focus on the work that needs doing while you are recovering, and familiarize yourself with what is required of you, in the service you are about to perform. Know your subject and re-enter with forethought. The emphasis should be on your capability, and you can win this one if you stay tuned.

No. I wouldn't sack you. I'd give you a chance to prove yourself over the next few weeks.
Recruiting people is a pain in the a*se, so my guess is your boss will give you a bit of time.
Good luck :-)

I would have sacked you on Friday. Once I sacked a chap for arriving late on his first day - my business partner at the time considered me a little harsh.
