how did it end up in your hair in the first place?

I would suggest shampoo but thats common sense
pick out the bigger chunks and the tiny globs you may need to shampoo your hair a few times...iand massage your hair where the globs were

get out the big pieces first.
put shampoo on the area where the chapstick was then rinse.
shampoo as usual.

pick out the globs first, then wash your hair.
and maybe repeat the shampoo twice before conditionering.

brush it with a wide comb and then shampoo it twice and condition it rinse with cold water and then put a leave on conditioner on it blow dry your hair quicky and it should be out
