Biblical Christianity teaches that God is both loving and just. That's why we have Jesus, because a just God would have no choice but to send EVERYONE to hell, because everyone has sinned, and the just consequence of sin (any sin) is eternal death, or hell. Jesus came to earth and never sinned, and therefore did not deserve death or hell, but died and faced hell anyway so that all sinners debts would be paid. Those who don't know and/or reject Jesus receive the justice due their sins, but they can't say that God didn't love then enough get them out, He just didn't hate them enough to take away their free will.
That's the short answer.

God made us. He wants to have fellowship with us. But He does not want us to do it as robots, so He gave us a will to make our own choice.

We have two choices.
1) Believe God.
2) Reject God.

God has made two rewards based on our choice, and has told us about them so we would understand.
1) If we believe God we go to Heaven.
2) If we reject God we go to Hell.

Its is our choice.

Hell is not intended for people, Hell is for Satan and demons. The only reason people go there is because the don't believe in Christ. God doesn't want anyone to go there, but He gave us a free will. That's why He died for us, so we may believe and be saved. He loves you.

Just because God loves us doesn't mean He will not be just in dealing with our actions. IF you are a parent, I presume you love your children but do not put up with misbehavior without them experiencing negative consequences for it. How much more so for "spitting" in God's face by denying His existence, or spreading false teachings?

You have to be perfect to go to Heaven and in order to be perfect blood has to be spilt, which is why God so lovingly sent His Son to suffer for us.
