Why do they call it a fever, I feel really cold and want to pile on a million blankets so it would seem if I had a fever I would be HOT not COLD??

As the temperature rises, you feel cold. After taking an antipyretic, as the temperature subsides, you'll feel hot and sweat.

The person who is developing the fever has a cold sensation, and an increase in heart rate, muscle tone and shivering attempt to counteract the perceived hypothermia, thereby reaching the new thermoregulatory set-point.

i would say because your forehead is hot...that must be why it's called a fever. although you are cold, you are hot to the touch.

You feel cold because your body wants to raise its temperature to fight whatever virus or bacteria you have. The body wants to be at 102 so you shiver and cover up because according to your body....your are cold!!!

you shivery because your body feels warmer inside so the outside tempeture feel colder on your body. You are hotter, thats why its a fever.
