Indeed, a coat would be a good thing to take... If you have a Bible, feel free to take it with you, but you won't necessarily need it. I regularly attend church, and I don't always take my Bible.
Also, if you really want to understand the Christian faith, I would recommend that you NOT use your experience at this church as the basis of your opinion about the religion. So if I were you, I would bring a fair amount of skepticism about the church's representation of Christianity. It may be a great church, but it could also be downright stupid.
Do keep an open mind about the faith itself, but don't be afraid to question the church. If you find that you aren't getting satisfactory answers from the church, then I would recommend you read the Bible, as well as Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis to get an understanding of the Christian faith. It might also be a good idea to find someone who understands very well the Christian faith (either in that church, or elsewhere), and ask them questions; they should be very willing to answer you, or direct you to someone who know's the answer.

No need to bring anything, except perhaps something to contribute to the collection box, but even that is not required.
Go with an open mind and a smile on your face and have a good experience. I'm not religious, but I've never had a bad experience attending any place of worship. I've always been respectful, and everyone has always treated me very well. You don't have to participate in every ritual, if you don't choose to. Just observe our cherished freedom of religion in action.

Don't bring an open mind, bring an open heart. And test everything they say against the Word of God.

Bring your Bible so you can check to see if what they are telling you is in harmony with God's word.

Your wallet, I'm surprised he didn't mention that. Don't worry, you'll get a monthly bill for membership fees.
