If you're buying the camera to take 'regular' pictures (family, vacation etc) this will work just fine.

It is not entirely true that picture quality is directly related to pixel count. The more megapixels a photo has, the more it can be enlarged, cropped, or otherwise altered without losing clarity. A large pixel count does not, however, guarantee good photos.

I would avoid this particular camera. First, a 6mp camera for under $120 is an amazing price. It makes me wonder what corners were cut in it's design to account for the rock bottom price. My guess would be cheap plastic parts and inferior optics. If I were you, I would spend an extra $30 and get this camera:

I've had Nikons my whole life, and this particular model would make an excellent "entry level" camera. Good luck, and welcome to the world of digital photogrpahy!

Sanyo hasn't yet built competitive digital cameras- but they're working on it. For $118- it's cheap, and you get what you pay for. if you're just taking snapshots, then it will probably be fine, but for $165 you can pick up a Fuji F20 at newegg.com and be taking photographs.

High mega pixel DOES NOT equal to better quality image. In fact, image quality have almost nothing to do with mega pixel but everything else.

This is a very crappy camera. If you don't mine crappy pictures with no flexibility to do anything else except to point and shot, this is the camera for you. And it is expensive considering how crappy it is. You see I don't sugar coat anything.
