My wife and I would like to take a trip around the world and be gone for two months. Our problem is that we don't know what to do with our cat. We feel like it is too long to rely on a pet sitter. None of our friends really want to do it. There are a couple of friends that have other cats but our cat has never lived with other cats. She occasionally sees one on the outside of our screen porch and starts growling like she wants to fight it. We're not sure about the idea of leaving her with a friend that has another cat. It seems like that could be asking for trouble, not to mention imposing. Cat sitters have worked well for shorter trips but we're afraid she'd be really lonely for this long a time.

There are boarding places that can take care of her. Check with your vet. Or you may want to find her a new home.

You should leave the cat with someone who has a cat cuz u dont have a choice. Yea cats are gonna growl at each other but thats only for so long. They will get used to each other...but u should have ur cat spayed..im not sure if its a girl or boy but u dont wanna end up with kittens do ya. And if they already have alot of cats im sure they wont mind taking another one just pay them well to cover food costs and liter and maybe just a little extra for helping out

See if there is a "Pet Resort" - yes, there are such places, but it depends on where you live. They will house and care for and play with kitty while you are gone. Do a search on Yahoo. If you can't find anything, check out local pet stores & ask your vet. There may be additional resources.

Best of luck!

Contact your vetinarian.
They can direct you to people who do this for a living.
There are many feline adoption agencies that have volunteers that may be interested in boarding your cat in their home until you return.
Most of the people who volunteer for these organizations are caring loving people and truly love animals and you would not have to worry about the care of your cat.

It will definitely be sad for her anyway, but if you can't find someone to house-sit or cat sit for you (eg a friend or parent who can stay in your house for 2 months), you have to take her to a kennel. There are nice ones, with room-size areas for the cats.

You need to find them a new home. Alternatively, have someone housesit for you that will take care of your pets and plants. You may be able to find a responsible student or a senior citizen who needs a place to stay and would look after your home.

I to have pets and my son and I will be gone next year for a reunion with my father so we have opted to take three of our four legged friends to our vet and board them. We have used this vet exclusively and my pets know him. It is tearing me up that we can't take all of them with us but that would really be imposing on family so we are going to board them and they will get excellent care.
