personal preference. if your not comfortable with it, don't. but here's what i do on the rare occassions i've had to leave for weekends.
i go to the store and get disposable aluminum baking pans. usually 3 to a pack. put litter in all of them and line them all up.
get the LARGEST plastic or glass bowls in the house and fill 2 with dry food and 2 with water.
leave the tv on (appropriate programming of course. like the disney channel).
and notify a neighbor or friend and ask them to come by once a day.
cats are way more independant and self-reliant than dogs.
and boarding in a kennel where there's a bunch of dogs barking and your cat is stuck in a cage, will not for a happy cat make.
i know my cats wouldn't enjoy it and the stress it would cause i can't even imagine.

I have done this with my cats. I always put out an extra litter box though. That way they have a spare in case the usual gets too bad. I always leave out a big bowl of food and water--- usually way too much but better to be safe than sorry. They have always been okay. Or if you have a neighbor that can come by once a day just to clean the litter box and double check the food that may give you more peace of mind. I have boarded them before--usually when it is longer than a few days -- but it really stresses them out and they usually end up worse for it. Another option is a petsitter service. They could take care of all your animals and it may be cheaper than boarding and easier on the pets.

I've done this with two cats. I put out 5 cat box's, all lined up in the bathroom. Then put out a big bowl of dry food and and another bowl of water. I also have a timer for the lights to go on and off. It works great. It is a little work when I get back, with cleaning the 5 cat boxes. I use the scoopable little. I then put the just cleaned cat litter in a big bag so it can be used again.

If you're boarding the others why not him as well? He would feel lonely if he's used to lots of company around him. Three days is not much, but he could get into any kind of bother, and you'd feel guilty about it if something bad was to happen to him.
You'd probably end up worrying yourself sick the whole thime you're away.
I've read that some people leave them for weeks! The cat can't be very happy at not seeing anyone that long. If he had another cat's company maybe it would be better.
Can't you arrange for someone to come feed him or give him company for half an hour a day? Costs less than boarding and would give you more peace of mind.

No, you're not a worry-wort! It's not a good thing to leave the cat alone for 3 days. What I do is have a family member or a friend come over to feed, give them fresh water, clean the litter boxes and spend time with my cats. I find it better for my cats to be in their own environment. They are less stressed and consider it a little vacation of their own.

Well I think thats if youve had this cat for a long time, and its trained to potty in a liter box and everything then you should be fine leaving him at home. Why pay extra money to bring him woth or do whatever else if he can stay at home. Youll only be gone in three days the worse things that could happen would be that that cat makes a mess on the floor instead of its appropriate spot. As long as you leave a nice portion of food for your cat, and maybe a light or a tv to keep him comaony then hell be absolutely fine. If you have a neighbor that you really trust or even a family member you can always have them check up on the cat

I have 4 full grown cats , and have no problem leaving them for three day , extra food water and extra litter pan ! You might try a day or two and see how that goes next time and go from there .

This can be done quite easily, buy another litter box and place it next to the original. Provide plenty of water and dry food. I have done this before with great success. Leave some toys around the house. Your cat will be doing lots of sleeping while you are gone.

I do leave my two cats alone together for a weekend (3-4 days) if necessary. I try to make sure there's someone to check on them if it's longer than that. If they have plenty of food, toys, and a fresh litterbox to start with, it should be alright.
If you want to board the cat, it sure would grant you peace of mind. But if your cat is generally well-behaved, he should be able to manage a weekend alone just fine - he may even prefer it!

Up to 3 days my cats (I have 3) are okay but whne I was gone for a week I had someone come over everyother day to check on them and scoop the boxes (which they are used to it being done everyday) I didn't have a problem. You should be okay for the three days.
