LOL - hahahahahahah
Boy what memories you just stirred up!! I had a cat that HAD to play with the tree for a day or so before we put on the decorations. It just became normal after a couple of years - put the tree up and let her play, then come back in a few days and decorate. She would see the box with the tree in it and pull the top open and climb inside. Silly cat. I had another one that would sleep on the branches - never disturb the decorations, just slept about eye level -- that was a surprise the first time she did that, I walked by the tree and it blinked (she faded into the shadows of the tree). Anyway, just learn to adjust - they cannot be trained to leave it alone. Don't waste your money on the spray mentioned above - it does NOT work on the trees.

You can try setting up a baby fence around the tree.
But really, if the kitten is serious it will get the tree.
Try putting plastic ornaments on the lower branches if not the whole tree. At least they will bounce - not break! And they make nice ones these days.
Best of luck!

Its difficult, believe me! I had to use fishing line to ancor my tree to the wall because my kitten would climb it & it would fall over. Another word of advise, dont use tinscle on your tree if the kitty eats it ( which alot of them do ) it could cause internal prombems that could result in death. Good luck & Happy holidays.

You can't. It's a cat. Just tie the tree to a hook on the wall using fishing line, and don't decorate with breakables or tinsel.

I used to have that problem all the time with my cat! when my cat was climbing the tree one time, I hid underneath it and right as she got ready to jump I scared her by grabbing her real fast and pulled her under the tree with me and started screaming. She hasn't done it since. It sounds dumb but it worked.

when she gets too close to the tree spray her with a water bottle or water gun!!.....keep breakable ornaments toward the top where she can't reach....and do not put tinsel on your tree!!! (cats like to eat string and tinsel and it can get twisted up in their intestines and they need surgery to remove it!!....know from experience!!)....good luck!!
