Is CD already "formatted"? *Some* CD burning software make you do it yourself beforehand. Does your CD already have information on it, and you're trying to add stuff? Sometimes, the way the previous person closed the file on the CD makes it impossible to add files! (I've had this problem too...no getting around it!)

is he blank CD in the correct drive ? if not or if you don't know which one it is meant to be in try each one check if the blank disc is clean
