I wouldn't choose to be one in the first place, and even if I did, I wouldn't wear the skirts. I only wear stuff like that to church and nowhere else, if I can help it. The only reason I wear them to church is because it's expected of me, and it's what I've done all my life. Maybe when I lose weight and I get the courage I will wear some sort of suit or something. If I'm supposed to dress up for anything else, I either wear black slacks or khakis, because that is what a man would wear. I too believe that dresses and skirts keep us oppressed.

If you became Amish or Mennonite, then you would follow their way of life, including the skirts. Otherwise they would not accept you into their community as a brother or sister in Christ.
Personally I have no problem with the skirt issue. I prefer not to wear pants anyway.

I would wear the skirts. It's part of choosing the religion. You take it all, or none at all. I think skirts are more comfy than pants too, and easy to throw on! So I don't see the big deals. Skirts aren't what oppress women, society does.

If you choose to be an Amish person then the customs would make sense to you. They believe very differently than most people and their women have not given up the wearing of skirts.

If I chose to live or remain in one of those societies, I would certainly adhere to their traditions. I would understand that by choosing the society, I had chosen all that came with it.
That said, there's no way in hell I'd ever choose to live like that.
On another note, full skirts aren't as bad as people think. I worked one summer at a Renaissance Faire, in full historical get-up. Chemise, corseted bodice, and two overskirts. Everything was very heavy and ungodly hot in Southern California in August, but you get used to it. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

No! I do agree with you it does seem a double standard to force little girls to wear skirts. I do believe this does cause oppression. It is legalistic. I feel like each to their own. Such as me I am free spirited. I wear what I feel comfortable to church. Who cares about wearing skirts, dresses all the time. I wear pants and jeans.

Ok...But if you chose to convert to this religion I would assume that you researched it and that you are comfortable with what it asks of you. So pretty much yes I would wear the skirts, it doesn't really make since to convert to the religion if your not willing to follow it. "But why choose to stay oppressed?" If you feel that you would feel oppressed why convert? In my personal opinion I think that your question contradicts itself.

certain, us Christians must have gown criteria. Why Christians opt for to look worldly is previous me. individuals are a collection of slobs, have you ever lengthy gone to the food market and considered the way human beings gown, its disgusting. adult males with a wrinkled T- blouse and shorts, or women persons with sweat pants and a wrinkled tank properly. We Christians favor to set the favored, not follow the techniques of the international. As for females persons, modesty guidelines. Modest skirts and outfits each and each and every of ways. Christian women persons should not be dressing to influence the perverts of the international. also, adult males interior the church might want to focusing on God, not on your a** or your t***, that is going for a for a visit out on the city or each and every time you go away your position. good that you'll be dressing modestly, there is not adequate Christian women those who gown modest, except for of route at my church.

If I joined a religion that stated, as a woman, I had to wear a certain artical of clothing, I'd wear it. It's stupid to join a religion and then not adhere to the rules and laws you have said you'd follow.
