As a former christian now wiccan, a faith I found to be more enlightening and freer to my soul and inner being, I believed after reading that book I was told to read, that I had to convert others. I believed that the only way for me to go to a better place was to bring others with me to know this god being. But after long thought, walks and prayer I found that this being was not what he/she is cut out to be in this great book of myths and legends. I reread that book before giving up on that religion mind you I did not say faith they are two totally different things mind you. Faith is the inner feeling you have within your soul that only you can feel. Religion is a pushed on belief that others feel they need to do to make you belief as they do. Faith is a feeling, belief is a mind thing not felt within our hearts and souls.
Ok so anyway, I found the book to be a great love story, mystery, scary horror book, and a good laugh about sorcery (moses turning a staff into a snake, jesus turning water into wine) hellloooooo.
I just realized I want to live one with the Universe, humankind, and Nature and not follow what some book says to do. Has anyone taken a step back to see that this being they idolize is not loving, kind and for someone being a parent as I am I would not want my children hurt for any reason...hellloooo but it is ok for cities to be destroyed because this being is a jealous overzealous being that cannot deal with other gods/goddesses.....helllooooooooooo
Anyway as a former christian to answer your question I felt I had to do that....
I know now to let others live and not be in judgement or even try to convert others over to my beliefs. I just try to share my true happiness and peaceful way of life with others. If anyone here wants to try to convince me otherwise you may as well be blue in your face....cause been there done that not going back ever again.

I hear some churches do tell their followers that they will be "rewarded in heaven" for trying to convert people over to their way of thinking.
Personally, I hate when people try to push their way of thinking onto another. Is it being a good christian to tell someone they are going to hell b/c they disagree with what they believe? How is that being nice?
Also, you should know that religion is a hot-button topic for lots and lots of people, especially the folks around here. Trust me, I know this for a fact, have posted some questions of my own that have gotten mixed reactions. No one will ever post a question on here that will be received 100% positively. Just go with it.

True Christians reach out to others in love much the same way as a person might throw another person a life preserver if they were going down a river with a deadly waterfall ahead that they were unaware of. Unfortunately any Christian who says you are going to "hell" to burn forever if you don't listen is unfamiliar with the Bible and the true nature of the God and Father of us all, Jehovah (Psalm 83:18 and Jeremiah 7:31).

Well on judgement day I don't want anyone to perish into the everlasting lake of fire. I want as many as possible to be with me in heaven. And there is only one way that God has given us. And it's a free gift. And yes if we do things here for the Lord, we will be rewarded in heaven. But noone gets to heaven by works. It is a simple changing of your mind of who Jesus Christ is.

The truth is that no Christian is able to convert anyone. They can share their testimony and some Bible truths, but conversion is in the hands of God, and His Spirt. Unless He chooses to reveal the Gospel to you, it will, as you said, seem like a pile of ****.

Because we are commanded to:
It is written:
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

Because our faith says that we need to spread the word of God's love and sacrifice to all humans.
And you seem to focus on Christians, but I think you would find the same drive if you lived in a Moslem country.
