They were successful at it for about 20 years. Why do they force fear, guilt, and gross superstition on innocent children?

they feel its the right thing to do. think of it like a computer virus, the computer wants to spread the virus to every computer making it defective, but the computer thinks its a valid file that has been spread.
They want to destroy your mind, i think the poster below me proves my point.

I too, was "brain washed". For years I had terrifying nightmares about the end of the world. When I was 8, I had panic attacks, thinking about what happens after it all. Since then, I have realized that a truly loving God, would not want his people to follow out of fear or guilt. I am an honest and generally good person. From what I have seen, the "Christians" I have known, are arrogant and are VERY JUDGEMENTAL.

You sound like you have a bitter taste in your mouth from your experience, like a lot of people do.
I would like to think, that the people trying to "brainwash" you truly felt like they were teaching you the Way. That is what I believe. I don't believe it is out of ill will. But sometimes bad things do happen in the ministry.
If you are interested in Christianity, study it for yourself. Sometimes people can get turned off by Christians who do wrong.
But Christ is Lord.

I don't know how a true christian can brainwash anyone. I do believe that a cult can do some brainwashing if one doesn't know what they have gotten their self into.

That is a good question as I am a christian and I have yet to attempt brainwashing anyone. Perhaps if your mind was not so filthy it would not need a brainwashing.....LOL

Well when I was a child
I was never taught fear of God or guilt
just everlasting Life for me
