Bruce Lee no doubt, he may have sold out later in life, with his acting, but seriously the man was a genius, he knew multiple forms of martial arts, and he took the best parts of each and formed his own style which is very effective and useful I might add called Jeet Kun Do. The man was brilliant. They are all very good martial artists, but none have done what Lee did, and Im sorry to say I dont know if they could either, effectively that is

None of the above.

I know I am going to catch the world's largest blast of flak off of this, but all of the suggested choices are no match for the masters of old.

Now, while I have a strong preference for European martial arts and the masters such as Johannes Lichtenhauer and Sigmund Ringeck, I have to say that the ultimate martial artist would have been Miyamoto Musashi.

At the age of 13, he killed his first man, a fully trained Samurai. Then, he killed upwards of 60 by the time he officially retired from duelling at the age of 29, after which he mainly taught though will fought when required, often engaging opponents with sowrds with nothing more than a wooden training blade or a stick and still killing his foe.

His treatise, the Book of Five Rings, is by far one of the best texts not only about swordsmanship but about martial arts in general and philosophy ever written.

It's easily Chuck Norris. He has no chin, under his beard is another fist. Brokeback mountain is not a movie, it's what Chuck calls the pile of dead ninjas on his lawn. Chuck only allows Jackie Chan and Jet LI to live so that people have a point of reference for how bad *** he is. There is no such thing as global warming. Chuck got cold one day and turned up the sun.

Bruce Lee. Always has been and always will be the master. Next I would have to say would be Jet Li, then Jackie Chan, and then Norris, but don't leave out one of the other greats and that's David Caradean.

If we can only choose from these there can be no right answer. You are trying to compare apples to a fruit salad. I think that someone like Royce Gracie could take any of these guys. You have 4 different forms compared to each other and there no way to tell who could beat who. In reality a tough skilled Juijitsu fighter is 7 out of 10 times better than a Kung Fu Master.
