Yes, it is a bad thing. Ask your teacher for an extension. Cheating is not the right thing to do, and frankly, some teachers peruse the online papers, and you might get caught this way.
You knew you had the assignment, and you blew it off. Now you are going to have to resolve the issue with your teacher, or face the consequences. I know this, I failed a whole semester of college because I chose to blow things off. You made the choice, now you have to live with it. Don't cheat. It makes you a bad person.

If your teachers are anything like my teachers, then I wouldn't suggest buying a paper online. As an English major, I can tell you firsthand that every writer has a particular voice. If I have read someone's work before, I can tell when someone else has written the essay. Your teacher has probably read at least one of your essays before, so he/she will likely know that you didn't write it.
If you are caught doing this, you will more than likely fail the class. Why not fail the class with integrity?
Another helpful tip is that, in my experience, talking to the professor and explaining your situation honestly (not placing blame on someone else or lying about your circumstances) will typically result in both an extension of the deadline and some one-on-one assistance from the professor. These two things may just make the situation manageable.

I'd suggest you start writing, do your best and hand in whatever you manage to write. Buying a paper online is wrong. On top of that, many teachers, schools and school systems have software that can check and see if you've bought or copied a paper, so there's a good chance you'll get caught. If you're in college, this means you'll probably get expelled. The best you can hope for is to flunk the class and get some kind of official reprimand or disciplinary action.

Eventhough it seems easier, you don't want to do that. Teachers can find out easily these days if the paper has been posted elsewhere (I am a teacher). It is a form of plagiarizing because you are using what someone else has written, serious consequences.
Also, At this point in the year (semester), teachers know their students' styles of writing pretty well by now, chances are, you will be questioned.

Yes, they are often the same paper sold through various companies and odds are your professor/teacher has seen it before and/or someone else has used it. Then you can get in big trouble for plagiarism or even worse expelled. There is even software designed to help teachers find your plagiarism. See this article: http://www.5starshare.com/Plagiarism-Finder-soft16989.html
However, some people get them as an outline or for ideas for their own papers.
